I Love Lamp

I dont blog as often as I thought I did. Things that make you go hmmm....

Anywho, my birthday was excellent. I got to hang out with my whole "crew" which hasnt happened in almost two years. It just so happened that everyone was in town and willing to come out and have a beer, which resulted in a whole lot of beers, hugs, laughs, good times, a cigarette burn, some wrestling, and more running-man moves than anyone should be able to handle. Also, I think there are incriminating photos somewhere. It was a night I wont soon forget; the most excellent birthday ever, perhaps, which may explain why it took 2 days to recover. C'est la vie.

I've been out of practice in that area for quite some time. About a year and a half ago I basically gave up my social life in favor of spending time at home, sober, reflecting on mistakes made and profound life lessons learned, licking newly acquired wounds, developing the only healthy relationship Ive ever been in, spending time with family and "getting back" to me. Its so easy to lose one self in the fog of sex, drugs and rock n roll. You can basically become your social life, or some sort of distorted monster-like-bi product thereof. Its nice to be back to me, and its amazing to know that I didnt lose those who mean the most to me along the way.

Anything that comes easily is almost never worth much; and something that takes years of hard work, patience, love, and incredible pain can be so deeply rewarding that the journey to get there seems well worth it. I am optimistic about 26. Im relieved to have the past in the past, and I am hopeful and excited to see what this year brings.
