The Metallica Effect

I was reminded just now of my theory on "what happened" to Metallica while reflecting on my own life/writing habits. With Metallica, it wasnt that they cut their hair (although that clearly didnt help) its just that they became rich rock stars and didnt have anything depressing to write about anymore. I mean, how angry can you be at life when everyone is falling all over themselves to give you whatever you want?
Now, lets just cut the shit right now, because I know people say that money cant "buy" happiness, and that is bullshit. If you are rich and unhappy its because you are an ungrateful asshole and you always will be. Honestly, have you seen reality shows about the daily lives of rich and/or famous people and their day to day "problems"? Its fucking ridiculous. Where's the strife? Where are the arguments over who has to pay the phone bill this month? And the stress of unexpected and expensive car problems? Who has to cook dinner and who has to clean up the dishes? Where's that 20 bucks I gave you yesterday?
Even in "reality" shows, contestants are almost always put in a gigantic mansion and fed all the food and booze they could possibly want, thus removing important factors of real life and rendering them useless, and only "real" in a physical sense. These are the factors that definitely contribute to who a person really is, and what motivates them to express themselves artistically.
Maybe money is what separates the truly talented from the poor and pissed. Because if you can continue to inspire people even after you've made it and are rich, after you've eliminated those basic struggles in life, then you've really got a career ahead of you.
I hate to be the one to say it, but maybe Metallica were just poor and pissed. And to go one step further, maybe the best thing that could happen to them is people "pirating" their music and pissing them off again.
