Last night I went and checked out Gonzo: the life and work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. I thought the documentary was good, but it was just a lot of things I already knew. I kind of hate that. Like when Fahrenheit 911 came out - I was really excited to see it and then it was just a bunch of stuff I already knew. Regardless, you should see Gonzo because Thompson was a genius and everyone could use a little more of him in their lives. One thing I learned about the Good Doctor was that he was suicidal for almost his entire adult life, which I find disappointing and depressing and somehow at the same time predictable. After seeing the movie and reflecting on how I felt when I heard he’d killed himself, I’m not sure why I was in such shock. It’s clear the man had had enough of the Bush Administration as he barely made it through Nixon and let’s face it - Bush makes Nixon look like a fucking cub scout.
Anyway, this and other things are going on but I have no time to post about them now… More later.
