One of the greatest things about the blogging phenomenon is that you can just go around and read peoples thoughts at random. For some reason, I find high school kids' blogs to be extremely shallow and somewhat funny, making them mildly interesting. But then I came across this one. Its your standard high school (or perhaps pre-high school) drivel about how everything that happens during any given day is the most traumatic and detrimental thing that has ever happened to anyone, until you get to this post:
" 10 things i would take if i was traped on a desert island.
well this is a very originalm topic...(not)
today is very bad tommorow will probley be very bad to and so will the day after that and the day after that but maybe the day after that things will be better.
or maybe things wont be better... who really knows?
here are the things i would take.....
1. i would take a book
why: i guess for entertainment, and it might stop me from going mad.
2. a guitar and song book
why: cause i would go crazy without music, pretty lame reason but hey, its the truth.
3.clothes and food
why:well without clothes it would be hard to stay warm.
and you cant stay alive without food or water.
4.my bed
why: its soooo comfy, and it would make life a hell of a lot easyer.
5. a huge house including electricity
why:well everything i need is in there.
6. my friends and all their familys encluding mine.
why:this may sound stupid and selfish but i could be fun hanging out together.
7. A pool with a diving board, water fall and spa.
why: to hang out in and to keep myself hygenic.
8.my dogs
why: because they are cool.
9.chocolate and chips
why:they are lifes essentials
10.a private jet
why: so that we could leave whenever we wnated to.
ok all done."
I almost fell out of my chair laughing when I read it. It starts out on the right track of what a person could (logically) bring with them or want to already have with them should they end up on a deserted island. Books and a guitar, not too much of a stretch there. Then its as if she gave up completely and basically turns the deserted island into everyday life where she gets to have a house with electricity, clothes, food, her bed, all her friends and family and her dogs. She throws in a pool with a diving board and spa and a private jet for good measure, as though she just inherited a huge amount of money, instead of the complete misfortune of being stranded on a deserted island.
Ah, to be young and dumb again.
Yeah. Also, thanks to Chris for the The...Rockinest...Thing...EVER. Can you handle it?!
no. you cant.
