A little less talk and a lot more action

On a scale of 1 to 100, my trip to Vegas was a 200. Seriously, in my 26 years of visiting that city, I have never had such a productive and awesome trip. Unfortunately, all I brought back for you is a bullet pointed list of things I saw/did:

  • New pirate show at Treasure Island, featuring Sirens of the Sea. The girly-girl part of me enjoyed the girly singing and dancing and costumes, however, the part of me that loves all things piratey (which is a MUCH bigger part, BTW) missed all the pirate fighting and explosions and death and stuff which was much more prevalent in the old show.
  • Social House was the most amazing restaurant experience ever. We sat on the balcony which provided an excellent view of the above mentioned pirate/siren show, our waiter was great and the food was indescribably delicious. Our meal was served "family style", which is the house specialty. Basically, you tell the waiter (who then tells the chef) types of food and/or flavors that you dont like and the chef makes a series of dishes just for you. Everything that came to our table was the best thing I'd ever tasted. They even made a special sushi roll with chicken for my moms friend who cant eat shell fish.
  • I was able to take $25 to the black jack table, play quite a few hands, lose all but $5 and then come back to break even. Our dealer was the nicest in Vegas, Im sure. She was a great coach and made sure to let us know when we definitely shouldnt hit, when to double down and when to hit. I certainly wouldnt have won my money back without her help and that is an excellent and rare trait in a dealer.
  • We found a Beatles-themed bar in the Mirage called Revolution. Lots of psychedelic things everywhere and loud Beatles music. Fun stuff.
  • My mom and I found a photo booth in the New York New York that will take a picture of your face and place it digitally on just about any kind of body you can imagine. My mom and I, of course, had our faces placed on a couple back-up dancers on stage with Elvis.
  • Saturday night I saw the Folies Bergere which is one of the longest-running, classic Vegas showgirls style shows. Again, the girly-girl part of me loved this show from beginning to end, while the sensible part of me had to wince at a couple cheesy parts. Overall, the show was great, and was something I've always wanted to see.
  • I had the pleasure of paying $7.50 for a bag of Doritos and a bottle of water on my way back to my hotel room Saturday night, another classic Vegas experience.
  • Sunday afternoon we saw a magic show which was cheesy and funny and featured tigers and leopards and a helicopter.
  • Theres nothing quite like walking around outside on a Sunday afternoon with a gigantic margarita in your hand. Shopping is even more fun and the heat more bearable with booze in hand.
  • Pancho had an instinct to text me telling me to put $10 on black on the Roulette table, and it hit!
  • Sunday night we saw LOVE. I know its been sort-of a theme in this post, but this show was seriously the most amazing thing I have ever laid eyes on. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

There were other things, but this is where my ADD kicks in. Long(er) story short(ened): The most amazing trip to Vegas has been had by me. Sorry kids.

    Kinda.

    Ok, Im not sorry.

    The End.

I'm still bitter about what they did to the Treasure Island pirate show. When I stayed there a few years ago, they were in the midst of the changeover and the big pirate pool was just green slime and work-guys. Just not the same.

Word. I meant to make mention of the intense "sexification" Vegas seems to have undergone in the past 4 years or so since I'd been there last, but my ADD didnt allow it. Not that Vegas hasnt always been a very sexy place, and maybe I was always younger and more naive and perhaps a bit oblivious; but everything in Vegas seems to be MORE about sex than ever before.
Also, I'd mentioned to Pancho that he didnt have to worry about boys hitting on me while I was there because I looked like a girlscout compared to everyone else there.
